Do dogs really watch TV?

Yes! Dogs respond beautifully to what they see on TV, and enjoy most when they see other dogs, other animals and even inanimate moving objects. YouTube has over 5000 videos of dogs watching TV, and increasing number of dog parents admit that they saw their pooch watching TV more than once. The shift to digital televisions and flat screen TV’s has also contributed to the growth in the numbers of dogs that watch TV. In a survey conducted by the American Kennel Club and IAMS dog food, nearly half of those surveyed had dogs that showed some interest in what was happening on the television screen.
Why is DOGTV good for dogs?

My dog suffers from separation anxiety. Should I leave DOGTV on him?

DOGTV was created to reduce the stress level of home alone dogs. Separation anxiety is one of the most common behavioral issues in the US, in which the dog finds it difficult to be separated from its owner. Many owners have a dog walker who comes in during the day to walk the dog, but this could sometimes add a second separation anxiety symptom – first from the owner and second from the walker. DOGTV is creating a better world for the dog, so he will feel less sad and less stressed when left home alone. How is DOGTV compatible with a dog’s hearing and vision?

Why can’t I just use DVD’s?

There are several key advantages to a television channel over recorded DVD or TiVo. First, DOGTV’s lineup is designed to work precisely with a dog’s daily routine: dogs need to play at certain times and rest in others. Secondly, DOGTV is working hard to produce fresh content all the time, so your dog will always get new, exciting visual and auditory stimulations. If you’ve noticed that your dog recognizes his surroundings when you approach your home, you’ll understand that dogs remember what they see and hear.
I heard dogs view television picture as flickering. Is that true?

The human eye discerns flickering movement at a rate of 50-60 Hz while in dogs, that same ‘flicker fusion rate’ is as high as 70-80 Hz. Older television sets, with a CRT screen, refreshed their picture at a rate of 50-60 Hz with the result of a smooth picture for humans and a flicker nightmare for dogs. New LCD technology however, has changed all that. The refresh rate on the newer television screens is now 100Hz and up, perfect for continuous canine viewing.
What kind of programs will DOGTV broadcast?
DOGTV’s scientifically designed content is divided into 3 categories, according to what dogs need:
1. Relaxation – content designed to help the dogs relax, reduce their stress level and keep them calm through soothing music, sounds and visuals.
2. Stimulation – dogs need to be stimulated, which is hard to achieve when they are home alone. DOGTV uses stimulating scenes with and without other animals, animation sequences and a variety of moving objects to stimulate the dogs. Great care is taken to use just the rights sounds and frequencies to encourage the dog’s playfulness even when home alone.
3. Exposure – based on the most advanced veterinary science, DOGTV uses special sounds and visuals to help habituate the dog and make him more comfortable in his environment, by exposing him to different day-to-day stimuli.
My dog is treated with anti stress medication. Can DOGTV be a good substitute?

DOGTV is designed to provide dogs with stimulating and relaxing content in a goal to improve the lives of dogs and reduce their stress level and anxiety when home alone. However, you should consult your vet before stopping or making changes to any prescribed medical regimen.

This is my first time watching DOGTV, what should I do?

Welcome! If you and your dog are new to the DOGTV experience, we recommend that you’ll watch DOG TV together for the first time. your presence will reassure your dog and help him adjust and get used to the experience. After a few hours, when you see your dogs is relaxed, you can leave the house.
What’s the correct volume to be watching DOGTV?

The same volume level you would set for yourself. DOGTV volume level was pre-adjusted to fit your dog’s extraordinary hearing abilities.
Do I have to do something special while my dog is watching DOGTV?

DOGTV is created in such a way so that you don’t have to do anything. Your dog will receive just the right mix of relaxing, stimulating and habituating programs, and you can be comfortable knowing that your dogs is in good hands. Just make sure that the volume is set to the same level you would set for yourself and that your speakers are on.
Some of the content on DOGTV looks funny!

That’s perfectly normal. The colors on the screen, the brightness level, contrast, camera angles and the sounds and music were adjusted to fit your dog’s hearing and seeing abilities. It may seem odd to you, but it’s perfectly normal for your dog!
Should I watch DOGTV with my dog or leave him alone?

DOGTV was designed for dogs who have to stay home alone. While there is no need for you to watch DOGTV with your dog—unless this is his first time—you are more than welcome to watch DOGTV together! We’re sure you’ll have a great time.
My dog seems extra excited when watching DOGTV. Is this ok?

DOGTV was designed to offer your dog a variety of stimulations both exciting and relaxing. For the first few times, your dog might be extra excited just like when meeting a new friend.
